McDonald's — The Spanish Spot

Session vocalist — Spanish-language lead and group chantProducer: Mark Mothersbaugh, via Mutato MuzikaVocal contractor: Tim Davis

Some credits are about what you built. This one is about the opposite: a session where Deyder touched nothing but the microphone.

McDonald’s needed a Spanish-language version of a national spot. The vocal contractor was Tim Davis — the same contractor lineage as Deyder’s years on Glee, which is how the call came. The producer was Mark Mothersbaugh, through his company Mutato Muzika, with Mutato’s own engineer at the desk. Deyder’s job was singular: deliver the Spanish lead, native accent, broadcast-clean — and stack the group chant, which Davis himself stepped in to sing alongside him.

That’s the whole story, and that’s the point. On other national campaigns that same era, Deyder was the one behind the console. Here, one of the most recognizable producers in American commercial music had his own room and his own engineer — and what they hired was the voice.

National spot (Spanish)

Why it holds up

The spot aired nationally and still sits on the agency’s official channel — the Spanish is audible in the first seconds, which makes this one of the rare credits that verifies itself on playback. For anyone hiring a bilingual session singer, this is the relevant proof: a native-accent Spanish lead, delivered inside someone else’s production, on someone else’s clock, for one of the largest advertisers on earth.

At a glance

  • 1 role — voice only; production, engineering, and contracting all held by others
  • 2 parts — Spanish-language lead + group chant
  • National — aired broadcast spot, still publicly hosted by the agency
  • The lineage — hired through the same vocal-contractor world as the Glee years
